A couple of videos of Denilson at home, on his Playstation, in his car and going to the post office. It's a luxe life. Embedding was disabled, but click here and here to watch them at YouTube. (I feel like an air hostess.)

Nice little interview from our dear friend Patrick Vieira in the press today. I know players tend not to read these stories (or they claim not to, anyway), but I'm sure Denilson's heard some kind things have been said about him by Mr Vieira, and I hope it'll give him a boost of confidence.

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has backed Denilson to become 'one of the best players' at Emirates Stadium.

Brazilian midfielder Denilson, 20, signed for the Gunners from Sao Paulo in 2006 and has emerged as a first-team regular this campaign following Mathieu Flamini's departure to AC Milan.

Denilson has already clocked up 24 appearances this term - more than the whole of the last - and Vieira, who played for Arsenal for nine years, feels the youngster has what it takes to be a star in North London.

"He's a wonderful player. It's not going to be easy for him because Flamini was a good player," Inter Milan enforcer Vieira said.

"We need to give him more time to develop as a player but he can be one of the best players at the club. The more he plays the better he will be.

"He is young and has so many qualities and he's only in his first years of playing in the Premier League.

"He and (Cesc) Fabregas can play together, all the good players can play together."
Source right here.

It's true he's improving with every game, and maybe we compare him too much with Flamini. I just wish he wouldn't fall over so often.
I read this on Wikipedia (the source of all things false) and was wondering if anyone can confirm/ discredit it?

Denílson Pereira Neves, known as Denílson (born on February 16, 1988 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian footballer who usually plays as a midfielder. He plays for English side Arsenal and is currently the captain of the Brazil under-20 national team. He is currently dating tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.
Seems like a weird pairing to me. She is 6'2", and I have, for the past few months, referred to him fondly as "My teapot" (it's those ears! They're majorly flickable!). There was similar on her Wiki page, but it's since been removed.

Yay! He scored yesterday!Collapse )

Denilson scored his first Premier League goal yesterday, to help the Gunners to a sexy 3-0 victory (against the same team he scored one peach of a goal against last season in the Carling Cup), and this time it was thanks to a beautiful team effort.

I have just one word:

Unfortunately, I was neither able to go to the pre-season friendly against Barnet today, nor watch it on TV. Life's a bitch, I guess. But my sources reassure me that Denilson didn't play that amazingly, which just about sucks, because as the maintainer of this community, it's my job to make him look like an ingenius little angel- which he is. He's just a bit rusty cos he hasn't played in awhile, and hasn't had a consistent string of games in... *counts on fingers* ...a very long time!

So to reassure the world of his clever ways, allow me to demonstrate his desire to do well in England, and his commitment to the Arsenal cause. (RAWR!) He's learning English. He's not the most fluent speaker yet, but give him a chance: he's only been here two years, and he's already at this level of squishiness.

Apologies for the no picture. Audio was the best I could manage.

I'm sure many have already seen this, but I feel it needs to be documented in this community because it is just the most adorable thing ever.

It's mandatory that I squeeze him.

Righty, well I feel just about awful right now for deserting this community. I didn't forget you, Den. I promise I didn't. I just, er... Got locked outside. For a few months. It was cold.

So to make up for it, I am doing a small normal-sized massive picspam. Well, at least as big a picspam as the catalogue of Denilson pictures on the internet will allow. Which isn't quite as big as, say, David Beckham's, but that's just because Den hasn't had much first-team experience yet and thus hasn't been photographed as much. He will soon, though. Flamini has left Arsenal, Gilberto (though we love him much) is scraping together the pennies for his retirement, and peanut-head Diarra has gone. So unless Nasri actually signs, or the likes of Song or, um, Diaby, step up to the plate, we may just see him in the team next season.

Anyway. I'll shush now.

There's also this relatively new video of Denilson out with the kiddly-winks from TreeHouse, playing bowling. He's actually pretty good. There a similar video somewhere on the Arsenal Vodcast. I'll edit with the link when I can be arsed, which evidently is not at this exact moment.

First a quick mention of Denilson's performance against Blackburn on Tuesday night- and of course the red card. He played well: got the assist for Eduardo's first goal (though really you have to thank Blackburn's shocking defending), and he fought well just like the other baby gunners. Maybe a little too well, in fact. But hey ho: he dealt with it well. I wanted to smack Savage when he started pushing the poor boy around, so only God knows what Denilson was feeling.

Aside from that, the special little guy's been getting involved in some more of Arsenal's active interest in the local community. Sp**s felt the need to join in, too, for whatever reason.
