Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has backed Denilson to become 'one of the best players' at Emirates Stadium.Source right here.
Brazilian midfielder Denilson, 20, signed for the Gunners from Sao Paulo in 2006 and has emerged as a first-team regular this campaign following Mathieu Flamini's departure to AC Milan.
Denilson has already clocked up 24 appearances this term - more than the whole of the last - and Vieira, who played for Arsenal for nine years, feels the youngster has what it takes to be a star in North London.
"He's a wonderful player. It's not going to be easy for him because Flamini was a good player," Inter Milan enforcer Vieira said.
"We need to give him more time to develop as a player but he can be one of the best players at the club. The more he plays the better he will be.
"He is young and has so many qualities and he's only in his first years of playing in the Premier League.
"He and (Cesc) Fabregas can play together, all the good players can play together."
It's true he's improving with every game, and maybe we compare him too much with Flamini. I just wish he wouldn't fall over so often.
Denílson Pereira Neves, known as Denílson (born on February 16, 1988 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian footballer who usually plays as a midfielder. He plays for English side Arsenal and is currently the captain of the Brazil under-20 national team. He is currently dating tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.Seems like a weird pairing to me. She is 6'2", and I have, for the past few months, referred to him fondly as "My teapot" (it's those ears! They're majorly flickable!). There was similar on her Wiki page, but it's since been removed.
( Yay! He scored yesterday!Collapse )

So to reassure the world of his clever ways, allow me to demonstrate his desire to do well in England, and his commitment to the Arsenal cause. (RAWR!) He's learning English. He's not the most fluent speaker yet, but give him a chance: he's only been here two years, and he's already at this level of squishiness.
Apologies for the no picture. Audio was the best I could manage.
It's mandatory that I squeeze him.
So to make up for it, I am doing a
Anyway. I'll shush now.
There's also this relatively new video of Denilson out with the kiddly-winks from TreeHouse, playing bowling. He's actually pretty good. There a similar video somewhere on the Arsenal Vodcast. I'll edit with the link when I can be arsed, which evidently is not at this exact moment.
First a quick mention of Denilson's performance against Blackburn on Tuesday night- and of course the red card. He played well: got the assist for Eduardo's first goal (though really you have to thank Blackburn's shocking defending), and he fought well just like the other baby gunners. Maybe a little too well, in fact. But hey ho: he dealt with it well. I wanted to smack Savage when he started pushing the poor boy around, so only God knows what Denilson was feeling.
Aside from that, the special little guy's been getting involved in some more of Arsenal's active interest in the local community. Sp**s felt the need to join in, too, for whatever reason.
